You're in experienced hands
Tony brings many years of experience to the therapy session. Nevertheless, each person is unique, and the first session will be new for both you and Tony. This session is for orientation where you can talk about what brings you therapy and what Tony's role might be. Together, the goals for therapy are agreed upon. Sometimes only two or three sessions are required to resolve the presenting issues; sometimes a lot more sessions are necessary. When younger children are the focus, Tony will want to include the parents or caregivers.
Accepted Insurance: Medicare rebate of $129.55 can currently be claimed for a standard fifty minute session if a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) has been obtained from your GP, or if you have been referred by a psychiatrist or paediatrician. The MHCP involves an initial assessment by your GP who will need to make a mental health diagnosis, and make the referral. Rebate can only be claimed for ten psychology sessions (progress is reviewed after six sessions, whereupon another four sessions can be authorised) in a calendar year and/or a 12 month period from the date of the first consultation. Normally, payment is made immediately after the session, and your medicare rebate can be processed at the time.
Alternatively, you will be able to claim on private health insurance if you have ancillary cover. You will need to contact your health fund provider to find out what rebate is available on your plan. No GP referral is necessary in this instance. Payment is still on the day, but you will need to approach your own health fund with your invoice to claim the rebate.
For some clients, other insurances are involved, such as worker's compensation insurance, motor vehicle accident insurance, or compensation for victims of crime. In such case, once liability has been accepted, a claim number will be provided by the insurer. Please have the claim details available, and accounts can be sent directly to the insurer.
